ORBVIEW - 3

GeoEye’s OrbView-3 satellite is among the world’s first commercial satellites to provide high-resolution imagery from space. OrbView-3 produces one-meter resolution panchromatic and four-meter resolution multispectral imagery. One-meter imagery enables the viewing of houses, automobiles and aircraft, and makes it possible to create highly precise digital maps and three-dimensional fly-through scenes. Four-meter multispectral imagery provides color and infrared information to further characterize cities, rural areas and undeveloped land from space.
OrbView-3 satellite benefits commercial and government customers around the world. Important capabilities of this satellite include the ability to: produce high quality digital imagery at low cost, acquire imagery virtually anywhere on Earth, acquire imagery within days of an order request, and acquire imagery in very remote or restricted areas.
OrbView-3 will be used for a wide variety of commercial and government applications. These applications include environmental impact assessments for engineering companies; infrastructure planning for utilities and telecommunications; urban planning in city and county governments; crop health assessment; exploration for oil, gas and mineral companies; habitat monitoring for environmental agencies; and surveillance and mission planning for national security agencies.
