Role of local/regional technology parks

Role of local/regional technology parks

The actual GPS/GALILEO component of a typical positioning / navigation product is small compared to the complete product – a GPS chipset if bought in quantities can already be as low as 10 EURO. The applications on the other side differ a lot (car navigation, LBS, road tolling, precise positioning, etc.). This means that the common denominator of companies building positioning / navigation products is probably pretty small.
The advantage of a technology park should be to draw synergy from a variety of different competencies, which share a location. A GNSS competence could perhaps be part or extension to an already existing technology park, supporting the development of products based on communication technologies. [1]
