Industrial players of GNSS - GALILEO operating company
The GALILEO operating company will be the industrial partner who will be selected through a concession process, established by the
GALILEO Joint Undertaking. The list of companies indicating interest in the GALILEO concession (see official GALILEO website) shows,
that this operating company might theoretically come from any industry (or a mixture of different). It is yet unclear, what the exact role of the
concession company will be. It seems, that its main purpose is to take the risk of the infrastructure procurement, and to unburden the public
sector by the generation of revenues. The future concession company is likely to be an industry consortium, because a certain critical mass
has to be built up. The missing clarity about the overall future process for GALILEO and its outcome is still a major obstacle, certainly hindering
the private sector investing in GALILEO. [1]
