Future trends and expected technological evolution - Cost-Competitiveness of broadcasting satellite

What transmission method the broadcasters adopt depends on just the cost for operation. It is said that the satellite broadcasting is very costcompetitive to the terrestrial broadcasting service. For example, the operation cost per year per household by the satellite broadcasting system is only one-fourth as much as the terrestrial broadcasting system. Thus the broadcasting satellite is more cost-competitive than the terrestrial system. Beside on that, the revenue from the broadcasting satellite still increases year by year as the number of subscribers is increased. So the future of the broadcasting satellite will be very bright. However, the author does not think that the Internet broadcasting wins exclusively in the broadcasting because of its high operation cost. [1]
